Where are the best dog parks in Queensland?

What you should know
Before you take your pooch to a dog park please read our ‘Dog Park Etiquette’ article. Dog parks aren’t for everyone. The experience your pet has there really does depend on you, your dog, other dogs and their owners at the park too! It’s important to ensure your dog is comfortable, not all dogs like dog parks. If you dog is scared/ fearful or reactive to other dogs it is best to skip the dog park and opt for a fun walk instead.

Where can I find dog parks in Queensland?
It’s a lazy afternoon, you’re about halfway through your traditional weekend TV show binge and suddenly you hear it. The non-stop whimpering, the condensation from the heavy breathing on the glass sliding door, the pitter patter of paws scurrying back and forth, much alike an authoritarian librarian pacing the aisles. Your dog is restless and that energy won’t go away.

You ponder for a moment - where can I take Mavis? This dog is hyper for not just a walk, but some good ol’ fashioned fetch, running free in the wind and seeing what the other dogs are up to. The nearby park only allows dogs on the lead. There’s no pet bubbler there either, neither around the block.
That’s when it hits you. The dog park! You jump on Google and find one 4 kms away from your house. You get her lead, her ratty tennis ball that’s lost its fuzz and you and Mavis are out the door!

So where are we going?!
Googling is your best bet, but thankfully others have done the hard work and created a hub with detailed information on what dog parks have what. Sites such as Aussiedogparks.com.au and numerous city council websites state what facilities it has.

Obviously, you want an off-leash park that’s fenced and also has toilets and water for Mavis (and yourself of course). You can see whether the park provides this on the website for your nearest dog park.
